Back in September 2021, the Friendly Aussie Buds HQ was raided by a tactical squadron of cops. If you’re wondering why we’ve been away for a while… now you know! 😂
Joe, our founder, was the only one there when it happened. It was quite the bloody shock, to say the least!
The police kicked in the door and searched every inch of the house… and unfortunately, they found a plant inside of Joe’s bedroom – among other things!

Why Was FAB HQ Raided?
We’re still not quite sure why or how it happened. We suspect it may have been a random tip-off from somebody out there who doesn’t like us very much… but it could have easily come down to the fact that that we have a high-profile (heh) public web presence, what with our cannabis publication and all.
We may have just been a little too open and upfront about our love for cannabis, making us easy marks for the authorities.
So yep, we got caught. Joe faced possession charges for the plant, but no conviction. He got off with a $1500 fine and $1000 in legal fees. In the end, he considers himself lucky.
He’d like to thank his lawyer, Richard Gray (cheers Rich) for getting a good result.
What is the Future of FAB?
We’ve been inactive on the FAB front for some time, and it goes without saying that this whole situation is behind our radio silence.
We’ve been taking some time to recalibrate – after all, a lot of our energy has been focused on working through the legal system, keeping up with our digital marketing business, and moving on with our lives.
It’s been almost 6 months since that fateful day… and since then, a lot has changed. The whole team has worked on its habits, become wiser, and learned a lot throughout this whole experience.
So – what does this all mean for FAB? Are we back in business?
We sure are… as a matter of fact, we feel reinvigorated in our purpose. We’ve never been so strong in our resolve!
We’re gonna lead with a bunch of content about the increasingly accessible world of medicinal cannabis – and show how you, dear potential patient, can make your way onto the scheme.
Additionally, now that we’ve had fresh firsthand experience with the legal system’s tendency to waste public resources on charging non-violent offenders with crimes that shouldn’t be crimes, we’ll be launching a campaign to call for the federal decriminalisation of cannabis.
It’s time to bring an end to the superfluous, life-ruining legal frameworks that our community is subject to – enough is enough!
Finally, we’ll be creating a host of informative resources to help the community understand their rights in the legal system. We want to help you avoid the worst consequences of the law if you end up in similar strife to us.
