Toke and Travel (Before the COVID-19 Crisis) With Old Mate Chris
The fifteenth episode of the Friendly Aussie Podcast is a 53-minute sesh with our good friend Chris – a global citizen and independent travel advisor by trade. We conducted this interview several weeks ago, long before the Novel Coronavirus became a concern for recording and production… at that time, talking about ‘travel’ made a lot more sense.
Now, not so much… but hey, you can listen in and think of all the places you could go if you weren’t under quarantine. We decided to release this episode, anyway. It will serve as a time capsule in the future – showing us what life was like before COVID-19. Plus, there are some high quality ‘bants’ in this episode… we cover news, politics, developments in the cannabis space, all while engaging each other in lighthearted fun.
But, without a doubt, the most interesting idea to come of this podcast was the idea of repurposing Australia’s old, rundown Bowls Clubs.
Bowls at the Bowls Club
Alright, time to seriously consider this… after all the social distancing, that is.
Your local bowls’ club has less patronage than ever, and has probably suffered a great deal from this whole crisis. Those who are eldest are at most risk of hospitalisation and death, after all. So, how do we connect with each other and revitalise our communities once this has blown over – and how do we create spaces for cannabis users to congregate?
The answer is simple – use the already-existing architecture of the Bowls Club. Make it cool for pot-smoking youths; allow them to smoke bowls there, legally. Go from there.
Thanks for coming onto the Podcast, Chris! We would love to have you back into our space, when we aren’t busy distancing ourselves!
