Jeremy Buckingham Makes History as Legalise Cannabis NSW’s First Elected MP

Milestone for Cannabis Advocacy in Australia

Hey there, FAB family! Big news is brewing in the Australian cannabis space, as the Legalise Cannabis NSW party has elected Jeremy Buckingham as its first Member of Parliament (MP). This significant milestone reflects the growing support for legalizing cannabis for both medicinal and recreational use throughout Australia.

Introducing Jeremy Buckingham

A former Greens MP, Buckingham has been an outspoken advocate for drug law reform and the legalisation of cannabis. His election is expected to bring more attention to the issue and advance the cause in NSW and beyond.

Campaigning for Fairer Drug Driving Laws

Legalise Cannabis NSW has been campaigning to stop punishing drivers with cannabis in their system. The party has teamed up with Alec Zammitt and The Craze Collective to protest New South Wales’ drug driving laws through billboard ads.

Fighting for Change on Day One

Buckingham’s first day in office will be dedicated to campaigning for the rights of drivers who have THC in their system. He’ll join forces with the “Who Are We Hurting?” army to advocate for a change in drug law enforcement, raising awareness about the harm caused 7by current drug laws and pushing for a more compassionate, evidence-based approach.

Hopefully, this will help spawn a movement to remove the old laws set by the past NSW government to search people without a warrant.

The Drive Change Campaign

The Drive Change campaign is another crucial initiative working to reform drug driving laws in Australia. Drive Change is focused on ensuring fairer and more effective drug driving laws that consider the needs of medicinal cannabis patients and recreational users. By raising awareness and engaging with policymakers, the campaign strives to create a more equitable and informed approach to drug driving legislation.

A Growing Movement Across Australia

The movement for cannabis legalisation is gaining traction not only in New South Wales but also in other Australian states. Elected officials from the Legalise Cannabis party are making waves and pushing for change in regions like Western Australia and Victoria.

In Western Australia, the Legalise Cannabis WA party has seen success with the election of Sophia Moermond and Dr. Brian Walker to the state’s Legislative Council. Their presence in the council amplifies the call for cannabis law reform and brings attention to the potential benefits of legalisation in the region.

Meanwhile, in Victoria, the Legalise Cannabis Victoria party is also gaining momentum, with passionate advocates like Rachel Payne and David Ettershank running for office in the past. While they have not yet secured a seat, their campaigns continue to raise awareness about the need for cannabis reform and contribute to the growing conversation around legalisation in Australia.

This expanding movement highlights the increasing support for cannabis legalisation and the need for a more compassionate and evidence-based approach to drug laws across Australia. As more states join the movement, the pressure for change at the federal level will continue to grow.

Supporting the Legalise Cannabis NSW Party

So, FAB family, let’s keep the momentum going and support the Legalise Cannabis NSW party as they work towards a brighter, greener future for Australia’s cannabis culture and community!
